Welcome! I'm Lissa
MY STORY IN SKOKIE
Three years ago, I asked a basic question to a Skokie parents' group on Facebook. "What new businesses would you like to see on Main Street?" Little did I know that this simple act of engagement would launch an entire grassroots phenomenon within the community.
Within hours, I was flooded with responses. Among them, an invitation to help plan A Walk Down Main Street, a forum of local stakeholders re-imagining the disinvested commercial corridor along Main.
From there, Meetup on Main was born, a volunteer-driven, neighbor-powered initiative to bring life, music, art, accessibility, and economic vitality back into our Skokie neighborhoods. We wrapped up our second series of events full of hope for Main Street, and with a host of new ideas from neighbors and business owners.
During the process of planning and organizing Meetup on Main, I've had the pleasure of meeting so many of our residents, business owners, and stakeholders. Their insights, struggles, hopes, and vision have inspired me to take the next step: running for District 3 Trustee.
As Trustee, I will do what I have always done: help those who need a hand, build on the foundations of progress already working, and advocate for a Skokie that not just welcomes everyone in spirit, but supports and empowers everyone where it counts - on our blocks, in our neighborhoods, and in Village Hall.
Skokie residents are hungry for policies that make a positive difference in their lives. With your support, I hope to usher in a new era of transparency, engagement, and inclusivity.
